Abstract :
Fuzzy logic control technology is viewed as a high level language in which one can efficiently define and synthesize nonlinear controllers for a given process. Fuzzy proportional integral (PI) controllers are compared to conventional PI and two-dimensional sliding mode controllers. The development of fuzzy logic controllers (FLSs) is compared to that of knowledge based system (KBS) applications. The comparison is decomposed into reasoning tasks (representation, inference, and control) and application tasks (acquisition, development, validation, compilation, and deployment). After a review of the reasoning tasks, the compilation of fuzzy rule bases into fast access lookup tables is discussed. These tables can be used by a simplified run-time engine to determine the FLC´s crisp output for a given input
