Abstract :
There exists one important difference between a periodic water rod array and a real forest. In a real forest, trees are randomly distributed in tree trunk diameter, tree height and tree spacing. Therefore, it is desirable to understand how the randomness in these parameters would affect the resulting propagation mechanisms. In this paper, we investigate the effects of random spacing and random height on the wave propagation in a dielectric rod array. Measurement data are collected on a scaled model water rod array. The results are processed and compared to those from a uniform array, as well as to numerical simulations.
