Abstract :
With the idea of using human characteristics in accessing system resources, biometric becomes one of the ways. And fingerprint becomes one choice to secure systems, because it is unique and widely acceptable. In this paper, we define an efficient verification system based on biometrics, which is hoped to access real system resources without physical key. We especially research the fast and reliable minutiae matching algorithm to improve the performance efficiency. As we know, the quality of the input fingerprint images has an effect on the performance of a minutiae extraction algorithm. So we study an improved fingerprint enhancement algorithm capable of finding the correspondences between minutiae stored in template and the input image without an exhaustive search. And this algorithm can improve the clarity of valley and ridge structure. The results of experiment show that the method can improve the matching efficiency.
