Abstract :
Technology strategy formulation and planning have become common business practices today. Nevertheless, successful implementation and measurement of the results is still quite difficult. The management control system of this paper shows how enterprises can best implement their technology strategies. Based on a case study of BMW´s IT strategy, the paper describes different measurement and control processes that have led to BMW successfully realizing its IT strategy. Both control processes - the interactive and diagnostic control processes, designed within the scope of an action research project, are integrated into a balanced scorecard that provides BMW´s IT management to measure and control IT technological innovations.
