Abstract :
This paper proposes the use of a genetic algorithm to obtain the optimal speed for each section of a trip. The aim is to reduce fuel consumption while not significantly increasing the required travel time. The speed limit indicated on traffic signals is not always the most appropriate for safety and fuel savings because it is static. However, the appropriate speed is a dynamic value that should be changed depending on traffic density and weather conditions. The proposed algorithm provides the optimal speed for fuel saving given the current state of the environment where the vehicle travels and improving safety.
