Abstract :
In Dynamic Broadcast, the delivery of TV content can be realised over both, a terrestrial broadcast network and/or a broadband network. Broadcast multiplexes and transmission parameters are modified dynamically over time. Furthermore, TV content which does not require live transmission can be delivered before the actual play-out time scheduled by the broadcaster. As a result, frequency resources allocated to terrestrial broadcasting can be freed for defined periods of time and made available to secondary users. Taking the time-variant spectrum demand of the secondary users into account, such dynamically generated TV White Spaces have the potential to considerably increase the capacity of wireless broadband services. This paper presents a Dynamic Broadcast demonstrator with special emphasis on the usage of Dynamic TV White Spaces. It is shown that in Dynamic Broadcast it is possible to use the same frequency resources for both, terrestrial broadcasting and secondary wireless communication in a dynamic fashion.
