Abstract
In this paper we present novel miniaturised slits etched on a compact ground plane of a typical handset that result in a significant reduction of the mutual coupling between two Planar Inverted-F antennas (PIFAs). The antennas are designed to operate at about 1.8GHz and are placed on either side of the ground plane at a distance of approximately half wavelength.
