Title :
QualiView: an in-service, non-intrusive monitoring device (INMD) for call quality performance monitoring
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The in-service non-intrusive monitoring device (INMD) concept itself is straight forward: bridge both call directions (near-to-far and far-to-near), analyze the speech/voiceband data/fax samples to determine various performance measurements which are most telling for callers´ quality of service perceptions, perform statistical analysis to understand trends and to proactively identify trouble circuits, and develop exception reports to detail the specific parameters of problem calls. The INMDs are described utilizing a specific INMD developed by Compression Telecom Corp., QualiView, as an example. The paper addresses where the INMDs fit in the network, the measurements best suited for INMDs and the manner in which these measurements are made, the testing of INMD measurements (specifically those of Qualiview), the benefits of INMD versus traditional intrusive monitoring, and how to make use of INMDs in any voice, voiceband data, and fax network
