Abstract :
To compete with larger firms, new technology-based firms (NTBF) must develop advantages of flexibility and speed of response. Capitalizing on these advantages requires an integrated technology management approach. Therefore, it is of crucial importance to understand and classify the technology management activities of NTBF in regard to developing methods, processes and structures. This paper describes come of the key elements of strategic technology management found to apply in a wide range of companies and industrial sectors. These are: technology strategy, technology intelligence, technology management control and knowledge management. This paper is the result of a cooperative research study carried out with partners in Swiss industry.
