Abstract :
A connectionist inference method for a knowledge base containing default knowledge is proposed. The inference is realized as an adaptation process that detects and resolves conflicts between knowledge and external information. The authors´ method consists of the network mechanism with a relaxation method and the logical mechanism that intervenes into the network to resolve the conflict based on the observation of the network state
