Abstract :
Integration between terrestrial PSTN and a satellite network is the field where the ease of operation of a sat-com system is proven. A terrestrial telephone network is normally well established and when the need for a satellite telephone arises, the latter provide adequate flexibility to be easily merged into the former. This flexibility must be complemented by a user friendly approach to system operation, in order to take full advantage of system capabilities. This paper deals with the SESNET system, and describes its operational capabilities with a special consideration to the integration aspects with terrestrial PSTN
