Abstract
SESNET is a satellite communications system which can be tailored to provide voice and data channels to a wide range of users with very different traffic requirements. The modular design of its SCPC-DAMA structure allows an easy, fast and inexpensive network growth. The open architecture of the system allows an easy, fast and inexpensive integration with the terrestrial networks. For those reasons, such a system is valuable for both established PTTs and operators of developing countries. SESNET is composed of a DAMA Master Station (DMS) and a population of remote Small Earth Terminals (SET); the main DMS components are the DAMA Operating Processor (DOP), which handles all network operations, and the DAMA Management Processor (DMP), which is in charge for all real-time DAMA needs
