Abstract :
The paper presents a flexible control systems development and integrated environment for marine application features. The paper discuss the control system redundancy and an automatic safety system. Safety-critical failures has also been modelled within the marine system and safe shutdown of the system in response to a critical failure has been demonstrated. Reliability and through-life cost modelling of the marine application allows different system architectures to be assessed and compared. The through-life costs include all phases of the control system from development, usage and update, to disposal cost of the system
