Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to bring out and quantify the factors contributing to the speed of the racket using 3D motion analysis. Here, the factors were contributing amount of four segments such as trunk, right upper arm, right forearm, and right hand in performing the forehand stroke in tennis. As a result of calculating the factors, the swings of two subjects were distinguished into the multisegment swing and the single unit swing, and each swing pattern was inclined to be different. Namely, the shoulder and elbow joint dominated the multisegment initial swing pattern, and the trunk rotation and elbow joint dominated the multisegment final swing pattern. The shoulder and elbow joint dominated the single unit initial swing pattern, and during the intermediate phase the trunk rotation and elbow joint dominated the single unit swing pattern, finally the shoulder joint and the trunk rotation and the elbow joint dominated the single unit swing pattern during last phase.
