Abstract :
It is widely accepted that future wireless communication systems will be a set of different technologies and standards. Such a trend is already in evidence today with 3G systems beginning to work seamlessly with wireless LANs to provide ubiquitous access. By developing REAL (Reconfigurable Adaption Layer) embedded in protocol stack, REALISM (Reconfigurable Adaption Layer for Integrated System) offers an integrated communication platform to across heterogeneous cellular and WLAN (Wireless Local Network) access technologies. By investigating the main modules of the REAL system, the implementation of the REALISM in the RRM (Radio Resource Management) processes are discussed, including channel allocation issue for wireless networks.
