Abstract
This paper analyzes the necessity of creating virtual reality (VR) substation simulation by comparing it with traditional substation simulation in visualization. As the development-mode of traditional substation simulation has low efficiency to create VR substation simulation, this paper proposes a components-based and flexible development-mode in which virtual reality simulation engine (VRS-engine) is the kernel of VR substation simulation. Meanwhile, this paper designs the frame construction of VRS-engine, illustrate the functions of components in the frame construction, and realize a VRS-engine with the usage of common object model (COM) technology. The results show that the engine is easy-extension and able-reusage which can greatly improve the development efficiency of VR substation simulation.
