Abstract :
This paper presents a new simulation software which allows the fast calculation of radar clutter from complex structures by means of ray tracing methods. The computer software allows the user to model the environment using complex and precise three dimensional models. A fast ray tracing method is used to calculate the reflection, scattering, diffraction and attenuation, suffered by the signal before being received back at the receiver, and it represents the results of the computation showing the behavior of the signal on a virtual radar screen. The software is practically implemented to study and evaluate the effect of using radar absorptive material (RAM) on the surface of structures and buildings in order to reduce unwanted radar clutter interference.
