Abstract
Reports the results of a study investigating the possibility of obtaining diffraction coefficients using empirical methods based on measurements. Half-plane scatterers of conducting and of dielectric materials, with diffracting edges parallel to as well as perpendicular to the electric field vector of the incident field, were examined. Despite the limitations of the measurement system the experienced gained and the results obtained demonstrate conclusively that it is possible, in some cases, to isolate the diffracted fields well enough to describe diffraction coefficients
