Abstract
The author discusses core loss in the equivalent circuit of a permanent split capacitor motor. He places the core loss impedance correctly in the equivalent circuit and develops the necessary equations to determine the currents to be used for the performance calculation. Core loss is included in both the main and auxiliary phases. This is particularly advantageous where a small change in auxiliary current has a considerable effect on the capacitor volts since the capacitor impedance is higher than other winding impedances. Core loss is apportioned to the main and auxiliary windings proportional to the volts per turn squared of each.<>
