Abstract
The preliminary evaluation of the magnetic rail properties and the design process of a high performance current sensor are presented. The sensor is non invasive and fits safely into the rail profile. The dynamic range and frequency range are quite extended (10 mA-10 kA and 10 Hz-20 kHz respectively), so that it may be defined a high performance sensor. Some considerations on the output amplifier under development and the experimental characterization of the prototype are also reported.
