Abstract
The design of an antenna consisting of a monopole circular array placed inside a radial waveguide is discussed. The main beam of the array can be steered around the azimuth plane by changing the reactive loads of the peripheral monopoles surrounding a central monopole. Housing this array in a radial guide with a suitable transition to free space results in an increased return loss bandwidth. An increased beam gain is also observed.
