  • Abstract
Summary form only given. The time-scale of molecular dynamics, (bio)chemical reactions and phase-transitions in solids is that of the vibrational period (-100 fs). The measurement of X-ray diffraction on an ultrafast time scale could provide a valuable method for directly observing atomic motions during such processes.
