Abstract :
A general CIM model and the application of available technologies that can be implemented by manufacturers who want to automate their operations today are described. The model implements computer-based systems in the gap between the business system and equipment levels. Aspects of the model that are addressed include the planner, resource manager, operator interface, and workstation controller. Cell control and the hardware implementation of the model are also discussed
