            Abstract : 
Summary form only given. We demonstrate picosecond time-resolved X-ray diffraction from GaAs single crystals using a tabletop ultrafast X-ray diffractometer with a laser plasma X-ray source. The measurements in this paper, in addition to their importance with respect to the phonon dynamics in crystals, open the door to other ultrafast X-ray experiments using the laser-produced plasma X-ray source.
