Abstract
The author presents a brief historical background on the development of Ada and the APSE (Ada Programming Support Environment) concept and then focuses on the management activities of software development which will have an impact on software maintenance. She examines the technical development activities affecting maintenance. She discusses how Ada´s contributions in the development process can affect subsequent maintenance, and the actual impact Ada should have on software maintenance activities is summarized
