Abstract :
The paper presents the design of a miniaturized slot ring antenna for RFID applications. In order to obtain an antenna of reduced size, the Minkowski fractal island shaping is applied. In the presented design, a 40% antenna size reduction is obtained using the second fractal iteration. Calculated and measured results for the first two fractal iterations are given. The measured performance of the developed antennas shows high potential for RFID applications, where small size of an RF tag system is of key importance.
