Abstract :
The economic effect brought by road traffic is related to many factors. Considering the sustainable development, the facilitation to the economic development is called in this paper positive value and the block to economic development is called negative value. The integrative economic effect of road traffic is composed of three aspects: positive economic effect on GDP; negative economic effect brought by transportation environment pollution; and negative economic effect brought by traffic accidents. First the upper and lower industries related to the automobile industry are analyzed. Then the input-output theory is employed to calculate the positive economic effect, which includes the direct effect, and three induce effects. The negative value includes both traffic accidents and environment pollution brought by automobile. With the relationships between car ownership and road traffic environment load, and the relationships between car ownership and the number of traffic accidents, the negative value are calculated and be conversed to monetary values. In the end, the positive value and negative value are integrated to analyze the economic effects caused by road traffic.
