Abstract
A conventional snubber configuration suitable for BJTs or IGBTs is presented. A notable feature of this topology is that zero-current turn-on and zero-voltage turn-off are obtained under all conditions from no-load to full-load. A simple energy recovery arrangement to improve the overall converter efficiency is proposed. Complete analysis and design procedure are included. A prototype unit of 5 kW, operating at 20 kHz, is fully implemented and tested to verify the feasibility of the proposed converter topology
