Abstract
In this paper, we approach the partner choice problem in coded cooperative OFDM systems. We first define the user cooperation gain, G f, along with the related cooperation decision parameter, Thetaf, and demonstrate that cooperation is beneficial to the user with Gf > 1, or equivalently Thetaf < 1. The cooperation decision parameter is estimated via the Chernoff upper bound on the pairwise error probability and subsequently used in the asymptotic analysis. The theoretical results concerning the choice of partners in coded cooperative OFDM systems are supported by numerical examples
