Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. Well-defined oligomers have been synthesized and characterized as models for mixed (hetero)aromatic polymers with pyrrole as the prominent unit. Stille and Ullmainn coupling reactions have been used to prepare a series of t-BOC protected oligomers. Reaction conditions have been optimized and a number of oligomers have bemn converted into radical species. aiming at narrow band gap polymers. Ullmann reaction followed by HPCC separation yielded pure oligo(2,5-pyrrole)s up to 20 units. Thleir structure-property relationship will be discussed.
