Abstract
This paper evaluates a liability in use of modulated signal for microwave wireless power transmission. A microwave rectifier is designed and fabricated for the evaluation process. In design, inverse Class-F theory has been applied. Rectifier´s RF/DC conversion efficiency is set as a Figure Of Merit (FOM). This FOM is acquired for different modulation type and bandwidth, in condition of equivalent total input RF power, through simulation and measurement. It is then compared with single tone RF CW signal´s RF/DC conversion efficiency. For most modulation type and bandwidth, modulated signal had advantage in RF/DC conversion efficiency over CW achieving at highest 7.8% higher efficiency from measurement.
