As such there has been an evolution of a standards based approach to both ERP integration and plant floor integration over the past 10 years. This evolution has incorporated the development of standards and standards based organisations, the developments in service oriented architectures, as well as the changing demands and expectations of the user communities. In the future we should see these three aspects coming together to deliver a vision of low cost, flexible and seamless integration
