Abstract :
In this paper, a power consumption optimization in multi-granular optical network based on particle swarm intelligence is described. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is evocated in order to solve the signal-to-noise plus interference ratio (SNIR) optimization to regulate the transmitted power in order to minimize the power consumption. The main results have showed, even with only 10%-20% of the total PSO convergence, the network is able to operate within a approximately saving of 10% of consumed power compared to network operation without power optimization policy. The utilization of bypass technique with PSO results in saving approximately 35% of the consumed power and should be strategically utilized in optical networks.
