Abstract :
An acoustic emission (AE) technique was used to detect and evaluate leakage of heating coil tube in thermal oil boiler. The acoustic emission signals generated from heating coil tube leakage were captured by piezoelectric transducers. The signal processing methods which employ crest factor and count rate as acoustic emission parameters were used as feature extraction for each heating coil tube conditions. In the experiments, four heating coil tubes were investigated. The pattern recognition, minimum distance classifier, was used to classify the condition of heating coil tubes. The experimental results show that the proposed method can be identify the abnormal condition correctly by correlating the results with a conventional dye penetration testing (PT).
