Abstract :
This paper discusses the system kinematics modeling and control strategy of AFS (adaptive front-lighting system). The research background, performance and development of AFS are introduced firstly. Then the architecture of AFS is proposed which includes three parts: vehicle sensors, AFS control module AFSCM and actuator unit. Then the kinematics models of the horizontal plant and vertical plant are proposed. Following this, the whole kinematics model of AFS is established. On the base of these, a hierarchical controller is proposed for coordinately controlling of AFS. This developed controller has capability to collect sensors data, send them into the algorithmic program and then control headlamp up-down and left-right movement. Fault management is also discussed subsequently. The hardware platform based on the architecture of AFS is established. The kinematics model and hierarchical controller are tested on this experimental platform which we developed, and the result is analyzed.
