  • Abstract
An attempt is made to develop a methodology suitable for study and design of the power modules used in an electric-traction-oriented industrial project. The study is based on the various production possibilities from the converter operating conditions and the current/voltage ratings imposed by these conditions (900 A-1200 V). Electrical characterization work has been carried out on power chips to determine the various energies dissipated. A 3-D thermal simulation tool (FLUX 3-D) has been developed to model the thermal behavior of this module. Various installation topologies have been modeled to study the mutual effects of each of the power chips
