Abstract :
The paper presents an overview of existing solutions for integrated circuits used in high speed (10 Gb/s and above) optical telecommunication systems. Available technologies are assessed for their advantages and the usefulness for optical transceivers. Currently available products and mature processes are included and only a brief discussion of emerging solutions is presented. The bulk of the paper is devoted to transimpedance amplifiers and driver circuits.
