  • Abstract
Modern business relies heavily on the information highway, i.e. the telecom network, to conduct day to day transactions. That highway consists of several interrelated systems, and networks, for example the wireline phone system and the cellular system to name two. Efficient mobile radio services are sought to be provided for a large number of customers by cellular systems. Mobile communication has gathered considerable importance and significance. The `cellular´ concept helps judicious use of the scarce frequency resource (by supporting frequency reuse and cell-splitting), while digital techniques enhance capacity and reduce system complexity. The present paper describes the feasibility and relevance of a telecommunication network which embeds concepts and features of the conventional wireline network and a cellular wireless network. The Hughes Network System Fixed Wireless GMH2000 System is used as an example to illustrate such an idea
