Abstract :
Simulation models are built using one or more “world views” that provide the underlying framework for defining the system of interest. This tutorial presents an overview and brief history of the alternative modeling world views for discrete event simulation. In specific this tutorial discusses the event, process, and object world views, and highlights the differences and relationships between these approaches. It provides practitioners with an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of each of these modeling views, as well as guidance on leveraging and combining the strengths of these different modeling approaches.
