            Abstract :
A modular design approach for miniaturized, GaAs broadband MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated circuit) mixers is described. Integrating an FET-sized power combiner module (power combiner LUFET) and a miniaturized, broadband amplifier module allowed a 3-10-GHz mixer to be designed and fabricated in a 0.9-mm*1.4-mm MMIC chip. The conversion loss is between 2 dB and 7 dB; isolation between LO and RF ports is better than 15 dB. A variation of this mixer which has an LO-to-IF leak-suppression ratio that is better than 30 dB is also presented.<>
