Abstract :
The control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor under a sliding mode controller is presented in this paper. A hyperbolic tangent switching function is used to overcome the chattering problem. The system is examined under extensive load disturbances, parameter uncertainty and noisy feedback signals by computer simulation. The results prove a superior motor performance over a PI controller in terms of robustness, smoothness and fast dynamics.
