Abstract :
The author describes how standard three-phase pulse-width modulated (PWM) switching patterns can be used to control the boost action of the inverter bridge in a three-phase hybrid drive. The control strategies allow the inverter bridge to operate as a boost-type switch without corrupting the three-phase PWM voltages at the drive output terminals. The maximum permissible voltage gain associated with the inverter boost action is shown to be dependent upon the amplitude modulation depth and the type of modulation scheme being used
