Abstract :
This paper presents the first results obtained using a new algorithm for frequency estimation of single-tone signals. The algorithm is based on compensation of the spectrum leakage caused by incoherent sampling and finite number of samples. The compensation is an iterative process in which a theoretical spectrum of a rectangular windowed single-tone signal is best-fitted on the spectrum of the sampled signal. This approach enables accurate estimation not only of the signal´s frequency but also of its amplitude and phase. The influence of noise and harmonic distortion is analyzed. The algorithm is also tested on data measured from a single-phase power system. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared to several frequency estimation algorithms.
