Abstract
We study the image formation in a two dimensional (2D) multimode dielectric waveguide. The studied waveguide is assumed to be multimode in the two transverse directions x and y. The conditions of single and multiple image formation are developed. New types of images are also found. The obtained results are verified using a 3D finite difference beam propagation method (FDBPM) technique. Based on the developed analysis, a 2D optical power splitter is investigated.
