Abstract
The synthesis of 8mol%Y2O3-ZrO2 (YSZ) with 6 wt% Al2O3 by roller vibration milling at room temperature and phase stability of the calcined composite were investigated. The alloying process contained plastic deformation, grain size reduction, particle implantation and atomic diffusion. Disappearance of alumina feature in composite after MA for 45h confirmed the dissolution of alumina in YSZ. It was the grain size reduction that promoted the particle implantation. Phase stability at high temperature analysis reveals the composite can be employed as thermal barrier coating materials.
