Abstract
In this paper we propose a dynamic approach to reduce node´s transmission hold-off time in the IEEE 802.16 Coordinated Distributed Scheduling scheme (CDS) using an opportunistic fashion. In particular, we evaluate the impact of the dynamic tuning of the XmtHoldoffExponent over the CDS scheme. Our approach is based on the observation of the data queue size of each node. Nodes with larger data queues will be able to set an opportunistic value to reduce new control slot´s acquisition latency. Extensive simulation study shows how the dynamic approach allows to improve system performances evaluated in terms of throughput, end-to-end delay, packet loss and latency.
