Abstract
In this paper, we demonstrate a transmission of three 450 Gb/s (9×50-Gb/s DP-QPSK) superchannels with spectral efficiency (SE) of 3.73 b/s/Hz, using coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM), over pure silica core fiber (PSCF) and amplification only by erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs). A maximum reach of 3842 km was obtained. The results shows that this approach can be used to perform 400 Gb/s long haul transmission with SE near to 4 b/s/Hz.
