Abstract :
The fast and important growth experienced by mobile telephony in the last two decades has put in evidence the necessity to assess non-ionizing radiation coming from base station emitters aiming at the comparison to human exposure limits. This subject is not only a concern to authorities responsible for general public health. It is an issue constantly raised by the general public itself since even non-specialized people can notice the major increment in the number of base stations on urban environments. This work presents preliminary results of an electric field measurement campaign at VHF and UHF bands in Natal, Brazil. Relative contribution of different radio services to the overall human exposure limits to non-ionizing radiation is determined.
