Abstract :
This paper presents the analysis, design and implementation of a high-performance step-up Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system for grid-connected Photovoltaic (PV) generation. The high-achieved MPPT control method, which is an important essential part of the efficient and low-cost PV system, needs to solve two main problems: wrongly tracking the local maxima under partial shading, and tracking in the direction opposite to reality under rapid atmospheric changes. Furthermore, the MPPT strategy should have the following traits: practical, ability to reach the global maxima in a minimum of time, costless and high efficiency. A simple boost topology using radiometer and a voltage sensor is proposed with the MPPT algorithm and the operation characteristics are analyzed.
