Abstract
Microwave radar based techniques have been proposed for medical applications such as heart beat and respiration monitoring, and for breast cancer detection. This paper investigates the feasibility of using microwave radar techniques to estimate aorta diameter variations. A survey of relevant medical literature shows that the aorta diameter variations can be used to estimate aortic compliance, pulse pressure and mean pressure.
